Anxiety
First, Definition: It is a case of general tension due to the sensation of threat either the danger is real or imaginary and always accompanied by mysterious fear with psychological as well as physical symptoms. Anxiety is considered the most prominent psychological disease as it is ranging between 30-40% of psychological disorders and it prevails in females, children, and teenagers, retired and in senility.
Classification of anxiety:
1- Normal objective anxiety: This really arises from external sources and it is sometimes called real anxiety. It occurs in expectancy situations or in case of fear of loosing something as success in a work or in exams, or put before marriage or at the presence of danger. This kind always encounters man and is considered a normal type.
2- Psychological anxiety: Its source is internal with unknown, unconscious and unwarranted causes discouraging both the adaptation with society and the ability of development and production.
3- General anxiety: Do not correlate with any definite subject as it is general and mysterious.
4- Secondary anxiety: Not a case itself but it is a symptom of some psychological disorders as depression.
Third, Causes of anxiety:
1- Hereditary factor
1- Psychological factors: As the feeling of internal or external threat which is imposed by some surrounding conditions according to person' position, his purposes and severe psychological anxiety, troubles, sudden loss, psychological shocks as well as extreme fears at early childhood and feeling of deficiency and inability.
3- Other factors: Pressures whether due to civilization, culture, or due to modern environment, changed demands and goals of the city, disturbances in family environment, social disjunction, in addition to childhood problems, teenagers and senility as well as wrong methods of nurturing children as austerity, dominance, excessive protection, privation and disorders in personal relations with others.
Fourth, symptoms of anxiety:
1- Physical symptoms: General weakness Appetite loss Muscles tension Nausea and dizziness Lack of vital energy and diligence Sweltering, finger tremors and pallor Sleeping disorders, insomnia and annoying dreams Palpitation and increased heart beats, chest pain, and hypertension.
Psychological symptoms: Includes general anxiety, nervousness and instability Inconvenience feeling and sometimes dismay. Suspicion and confusion and determination hesitation Incidental depression Pessimism Thinking in past faults and future disasters and imagination of diseases Fear of death and felling of end nearness. Concentration weakness and distraction Inability to work and produce Social incompatibility
Fifth, Treatment:
1- Psychological treatment (behavioral treatment): With the aim of developing personality and ensuring correspondence and increasing prescience
2- Social and treatment advice and solving patient problems and teach him how to face problems and ways to do this.
3- Environmental treatment: By modification of factors that have an obvious effect like changing work, attenuation of patient overcharges and pressures over him. Social treatment, Sports treatment, Trips and friendships
4- Medical treatment: For treatment of accompanied physical symptoms using anti-depressants
Sixth, Fate of the disease:
If patient personality before affection was balanced and life conditions were less hard in addition to co-operation with the physician so the fate of the disease will be good and patient will be close to improvement.
